Build Log: MarisStella Ragusian Cog
Special thanks to Rick Shousha of Modeller’s Workshop for helping me import this kit to the U.S. from Croatia.Let me say that the materials of this kit are excellent. The wood (almost all walnut) is top quality. The dowel rods are straight and round. The laser cuts are square (a first in my experience). The cannons are turned brass.
About Ragusian Galleon 16th Century 1:59 scale
The quality of the walnut of this kit is dark and very good looking when sealed … clean and precise … no trace of any over burned wood.

I’ve been very pleased with my Ragusian Carrack from MarisStella. … The wood is very good, the sails very nice, a good kit in general.

Maristella Ragusian Galleon 16th Century
We already know about the good quality kits that Zoran from Marisstella models are producing and also have seen a few of Marisstella building logs that we have in this forum.
This Maristella kit I'm about to review, is in the top of my list of my models to be built.
I say this because it has the type of quality materials and laser cut parts we usually expect when we expend our hard cash on a model.
It has a 140 pages construction book with excellent detailed pictures of the diffrent steps of the build. When we get to the part of rigging and appplying the embroided sails we will have an extend load of graphics to help us understand the process.
MsrisStella HMS Ontario thread, post on Apr 16, 2024
Last week I received my HMS Ontario by MarisStella. I had been dealing with John Andela who was most helpful in getting the most recent iteration of this model. My kit has all of the most recent upgrades, including cannons, double drilled blocks, partially completed sails, and 3-D printed bow and stern pieces. I had finally finished my ZHL model of the HMY Royal Caroline 1:50 and the difference between the MarisStella and the ZHL kits is like night and day. Part of this is due to the fact that the MarisStella instruction manual (all 250+ pages!!) is in English, but the quality of materials also seem superior.
